One of the rangers told us that you can get an acre for about 17.000 US$. Every now and then the view is magnificent.

This lava is only a couple of days old. Unfortunately, I arrived about 1 week too late.
The lava flow was pretty underwhelming but the great view of the Milky Way saved my day.

14:04 it's pouring... So for the second time I did not descent into the crater due to rain. I see a pattern emerging... It did not get any better this day. :-(

Observatory on top of Mauna Kea
Star gazing at the visitor center. They had plenty of telescopes for use by visitors. You could even see the rings of Saturn with these telescopes.
